must sew something!!

It's been a lazy week or so, I have been tired, neglected house, sewing projects, and organizing files... Last week all I was able to complete was a stack of napkins for ourselves... I think they may be to small, but nonetheless they work, and I was so over buying paper napkins... will post pic soon, right now I just want to lay in bed and sweat out this fever :(

Hope to feel better, after I make Luna a couple more tshirt dresses, I'm going to finally make myself something!!!!

It's raining bags!

I don't know why I have this obsession with handbags/backpacks/messenger bags. Perhaps it's because they look good despite a weight loss/gain, there are no sizes on them, and I can stuff ALL my neccesities in them. I am currently obsessing over this masculine and rugged canvas rucksack by Brothers Bray and Co. from Urban Outfitters, and a barrel handbag from Brooks Brothers...

Zac Posen for Target in March 2010, this has seriously just made my morning!!!! Me encanta Zac Posen! but before that i believe Jean Paul Gaultier's line will be in Target!! Oh Target how I love thee for making these designers more accessible.. which reminds me I STILL haven't snatched up a RODARTE dress..ugh, hope they are still out there!

Ping Wu of Project Runway

Ping Wu, Physical therapist and fashion designer!! Now that is pretty inspiring, as I am also in physical therapy but have a fleeting desire to also do something more artistic. It's as if both sides of my brain want equal power between!!! Ping stated that she makes a good designer because she is a physical therapist as knows how the body moves....aaah LOVE IT!!!!! I don't know how far she will get in the show but I loved her first piece (though I think I would of paired it with flat boots)

Baking with our Moon!

This past christmas, Luna recieved some very girly, girly gifts.. A play kitchen, tea cup set, another play baby, a princess tent and a baking set complete with apron. She loves all this make believe play...

Tonight, Hec and I decided to bake chocolate chip cookies with Luna, she was so excited!!

Thank you bad lighting

A couple nights ago I made Luna a
patternless dress, made out of scraps I had from previous projects. Lets just say that I will not be making anything else without a pattern! Thanks to bad lighting the dress does not seem that terribly bad, and Luna seems to like it, but the seams and pleats are not exactly professional... oh and looks more like a shirt...However, I choose to not fix it so that I can see if one year from now I have made any progress : )

Here is the blog for the dress, maybe yours will come out better!!

Words I love...

But now I think about that, you know, that being fucking a cute boy. I think about that and i think about being a poet or rapper or an artist even. It's this guy on one-two-five, Franco, he done painted pictures on the steel gates that's over almos' all the stores windows. At night you walk down and each one is painted different. I like that better than museum.

Not pushing their feelings, letting themselves be borne along by the natural flow of their hearts, they reached a point where all that was left to do was set a wedding date.

Nenny and I don't look like sisters... not right away. Not the way you can tell with Rachel and Lucy who have the same fat popsicle lips like everybody else in their family. But me and Nenny, we are more alike than you would know. Our laughter for example. Not the shy ice cream bells giggle of Rachel and Lucy's family, but all of a sudden and surprised like a pile of dishes breaking. And other things I can't explain.

One day we were passing a house that looked, in my opinion, like houses I had seen in Mexico. I don't know why. There was nothing about the house that looked exactly like the houses I remembered. I'm not even sure why I thought it, but it seemed to feel right.

Look at that house, I said, it looks like Mexico.
Rachel and Lucy look at me like I'm crazy, but before they can let out a laugh, Nenny says: Yes, that's Mexico alright. That's what I was thinking exactly.

It seems that once in a lifetime we do encounter someone who grabs our heart right out of our chest and caresses it with happiness.

Luna Isabella, 4 months from 3!

Day One. twentyten

We were presented with the first day of 2010,filled with sunshine and good times! Hector and I took Luna to breakfast and then to the zoo! I love seeing how each time we visit the zoo, it is a different experience for Luna, from just being pushed around in a stroller, taking in the sights and sounds, to becoming more interactive with the petting zoo, being more vocal about all the things she is seeing, and being able to walk the entire zoo herself!!!

Eve of twentyten

I looove NYE!! This year we took a different route and spent NYE at home with our daughter, friends and their baby. I was hoping that Luna would stay up to countdown with us, but she fell asleep at her usual bedtime, which I will not complain about! We spent the evening with our friends, played some board games, had some delicious margaritas, even lit some fireworks ( hector was very excited about this) Luna suprised me when she woke up right before midnight, and we were able to bring in the new year together :) Though, i do not think she was too happy with waking up to flashing cameras.... see pic below :P

It was a refreshing change from our usual night of crazyness! I must admit I missed my friends and sister, as I have spent so many NYE with them.... but in the end I had a great night! I enjoyed hanging with Mayra and her husband, and look forward to more gatherings with them! MANCALA!!!!!!
