Reminiscing with patients

I've had a lot.of older patients as of late, ranging from 80 - 90 years of age.  They tell me lovely stories of their loved ones, that are not with them anymore, and haven't been for the past 10 - 15 years. These stories are told with smiles on their face, and a sparkle in their eyes. Silly stories about petty arguments that they now laugh about, and usually the parts that bring them the fondest memories are those of daily rituals they had. Breakfast, coffee, cleaning the house, going for a walk... Stories of out of town family trips, and travels together, or barely making enough money to support their families, yet making incredible memories...

Can you imagine that? Living without your love for so long, the mere thought of it hurts.
